“Umyezo Wama Apile Temporary School in Grabouw is on track to be up and running by the 16 July 2012, in time for students to begin their third term of the school year,” said Carlisle.
There are currently 19 temporary units available that have been completely assembled up to roof level, with one unit still to be assembled for the staff room. The water connection and the sewerage connections have been completed, with the 12 ablution units (cubicles) still to be connected to the sewer reticulation.
“The entire project is at 80% completion and work is proceeding steadily. Furniture and equipment will be delivered to the site by the Western Cape Education Department on 9 July 2012 so as to ensure that the temporary school is fully operational by the start of the new school term. This has been a continuing joint venture between my department and the WCED, to provide appropriate schooling facilities for the community in Grabouw,” added Carlisle.
