The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson is attending a culmination of the National Council of Provinces Taking Parliament to the People public hearings alongside President Jacob Zuma, in De Aar, Northern Cape, today.
The Minister regularly attends public engagements and meetings with representatives from the fishing, forestry and fisheries sectors to understand their needs. The Minister also convenes, and is invited to regular meetings with agricultural unions on how they can play a bigger role towards assisting government with eradicating food insecurity in households.
Minister Joemat-Pettersson would like to thank the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) for arranging imbizos like the one in the Northern Cape: “This is an opportunity for us to witness, for ourselves, the challenges facing communities. We also get an opportunity to see where we can invest more resources that will have a greater impact on the communities."
