President Jacob Zuma, the head of the National Executive, has extended a fond farewell to the former Cabinet Spokesperson and CEO of the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Mr Themba Maseko.
Minister Collins Chabane yesterday announced the transfer of Mr Themba Maseko to the Department of Public Service and Administration as Director-General, and of Mr Jimmy Manyi from the Department of Labour to GCIS. Mr Maseko was initially appointed as CEO of GCIS and spokesperson for Cabinet in June 2006.
Said President Zuma: "Themba Maseko’s efficiency as well as his affable and humble nature saw him cement relations with the media fraternity, thereby greatly improving relations between the media and government in the process. He instilled confidence in government communications and has set a good track record."
President Zuma also welcomed Mr Manyi and wished him well on his new appointment and expressed his confidence that he would handle his new assignment diligently and effectively.
