President Jacob Zuma has learnt with sadness of the passing of Reverend Khoza Mgojo, a tireless cleric who was instrumental in achieving peace and healing in KwaZulu Natal during the turbulent years of violence.
Dr Mgojo passed away early this morning in Pietermaritzburg after a long illness.
President Zuma said both his role in the struggle against apartheid especially in the 1980s and the subsequent work in achieving the peace and political co-existence that KwaZulu Natal enjoys today could never be measured.
"This is particularly sad as the Reverend has left us a day after another renowned cleric who worked with him, Sister Bernard Ncube, also passed on. South Africa remains eternally indebted to both of them," said the President.
"I wish to convey on behalf government and the whole country our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the community. May his soul rest in peace," added President Zuma.
