President Jacob Zuma is deeply saddened at the passing away of the struggle stalwart Ayesha (Bibi) Dawood, a great South African and recipient of the National Order of Luthuli, who passed away at the weekend.
Ayesha Dawood rose to prominence as a struggle activist in Worcester, Western Cape, and was one of the leaders charged in the 1956 Treason Trial.
"We have lost a committed activist and veteran of our struggle for freedom. On behalf of myself, the government and the people of South Africa I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to her children, grandchildren and other members of her family. May her soul rest in peace." said President Zuma.
