President Jacob Zuma has declared, on request of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, a Special Provincial Official Funeral for Ms Nokuhamba Nyawo an esteemed member of the Order of Luthuli and a gallant heroine of the struggle against apartheid.
The Special Provincial Official Funeral is reserved for distinguished persons as decided by the President of the Republic.
The President has further instructed that the National Flag fly at half-mast in KwaZulu-Natal province on the day of the funeral.
Ms Nokuhamba Nyawo received the Order of Luthuli in December 2009 from the President, for her selfless commitment and loyalty to the struggle for a peaceful, democratic, non-racial and non-sexist South Africa.
