President has today, 7 December 2009, announced the funeral of former High Commissioner to Namibia and struggle veteran to be an official provincial funeral and that the national flag fly at half-mast in the province of Gauteng on the day of the burial or cremation, as a mark of respect to the Mr Curtis Nkondo.
An official funeral is reserved for:
a. Serving Ministers
b. Speaker of the National Assembly
c. Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa
d. Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP)
e. Premiers of provinces
f. Distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa
The Nkondo family has agreed to the funeral being official and details of the funeral are as follows:
