President Jacob Zuma has today, 18 September 2011, arrived in New York ahead of the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Today he will attend the meeting of the United Nations Secretary’s Global Sustainability Panel of which he is co-chair, sharing the responsibility with the President of Finland. The meeting focuses on moving forward the climate change agenda, particularly looking at climate change as a development issue.
Other than the 66th UNGA debate during the week, the President will also participate in a number of other key events including an AU Peace and Security Council meeting on Libya hosted by the UN Secretary General, a Leaders' Dialogue on Climate Change co-hosted with the President of Mexico, a meeting of the General Assembly to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the Durban Declaration on Programme of Action of the world conference against racism that was held in Durban in 2001 and a UN Security Council Summit on Preventative Diplomacy.
President Zuma's is accompanied by Ms Bongi Ngema-Zuma and the following Ministers:

Ms Tobeka Zuma is also in New York on a separate programme, attending the World Health Organisation’s session on the Economics of Non-Communicable Diseases which is her area of focus.
