His Excellency, President Jacob Zuma, has today, 10 December 2011, arrived in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria, for a visit aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
President Zuma will this morning hold talks with his counterpart His Excellency President Goodluck Jonathan. The talks are expected to include progress made by the South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission (BNC) which is led at deputy/vice-president level, and other regional and continental issues.
Among the highlights of the visit, President Zuma will this morning address the General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Memorial Lecture to celebrate the life and times of this highly regarded fighter for peace and freedom.
Later in the day the President goes to Yola in Adamawa State, where he will receive an honorary doctoral degree in Humane Letters from the American University of Nigeria, in recognition of his contribution to humankind through outstanding leadership, creativity and excellence.
