President Zuma arrives in Equatorial Guinea for the AU Summit

President Jacob Zuma has this evening arrived in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea ahead of the 23rd Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly (AU Summit), scheduled for 25 to 27 June 2014.

The summit is expected to deliberate amongst others the status of peace and security in Africa, the implementation of New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) projects, the African Peer Review Mechanism, the African Common Position on the Post-2015 Development Agenda as well as the report of the Committee of African Heads of States and Government on Climate Change.

Themed "2014 Year of Agriculture and Food Security in Africa, Marking the 10th Anniversary of Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme", the AU Summit will also consider the finalisation of the Agenda 2063 Continental Framework, as part of the vision of Africa in the next 50 years.

President Zuma is accompanied Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane (Minister of International Relations and Cooperation), Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula (Minister of Defence and Military Veterans), Mr Collins Chabane (Minister of Public Service and Administration), Mr David Mahlobo (Minister of State Security), Mr Jeff Radebe (Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Performance Monitoring and Evaluation), Mr Senzeni Zokwana (Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries), as well as Ms Ayanda Dlodlo (Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration).
