President Jacob Zuma has appointed new members of the Board of Trustees of the International Marketing Council (IMC), to oversee the marketing of Brand SA.
The IMC was established in 2002. The mandate of the organisation is to develop and implement a pro-active and coordinated international marketing and communication strategy for South Africa.
For the IMC Trust to achieve its primary objectives, the Trustees must:
* develop a South African brand identity that will advance South Africa's objectives for investment, trade, tourism and international relations
* build national support for the brand in South Africa
* build awareness and the image of the brand in other countries
* promote the involvement and co-operation of various government departments, public entities, the private sector and the non-governmental sector in achieving the objectives of the Trust.
The IMC outgoing board held their last meeting today. President Zuma has extended government's gratitude to the Board for their sterling service to the country.
"They have performed exceptionally well and managed to create a brand that is visible and appreciated throughout the world.
