President Zuma appoints Minister Chabane to address challenges at Walter Sisulu University

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Minister in The Presidency for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Collins Chabane to attend to challenges at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) in the Eastern Cape.

The President has appointed Minister to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the culture of learning is restored at the university.

“We need to work collectively with all stakeholders to urgently ensure that all learners return to class and that the culture of learning is restored at the University” said Minister Chabane.

Minister Chabane is currently consulting with relevant stakeholders in government and will in due course be holding discussions with all affected parties.

The Minister has already established a technical committee of Directors-General led by the Presidency working with Labour and Higher Education to immediately begin with the process.

The President assigned Minister Chabane after receiving a letter appealing for his intervention from Reverend VP Mabo of the South Africa Council of Churches in the Eastern Cape.

The Minister said that all stakeholders needs to work together to find amicable solution to the challenges.
