The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr Jacob G Zuma, has on behalf of the government and the people of South Africa, congratulated Her Excellency Ms Dilma Rousseff on the occasion of her election as the first woman President of the Federal Republic of Brazil.
South Africa and Brazil enjoy cordial bilateral, economic and diplomatic relations and also cooperate ion international forums such as India, Brazil, and South Africa (IBSA) and the United Nations.
“The election of President Dilma Rousseffto the highest office in Brazil will further strengthen and consolidate our resolve, as two sister nations and members of the developing world, to continue in our collective efforts to transform the Global Governance and Monetary or Financial Institutions.
“We, as government and the People of South Africa, wish President Rousseff success in her new role as the leader of the Brazilian people,” President Zuma concluded.
