President Jacob Zuma has wished Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela a very happy birthday today, 26 September 2014, as she turns 78 years old.
"We join the family in extending good wishes to Mama Winnie on her special day. We will always cherish and remember Mama Winnie's fortitude, courage, determination and unwavering commitment to freedom and justice in spite of persecution, pain and hardship during the difficult days of the struggle against apartheid. She kept the flame of freedom alive and we are grateful that she witnessed the dawn of the liberation she fought so hard to achieve. On behalf of all the people of South Africa, we wish you good health and a long life Mama," said President Zuma
