President Jacob Zuma wishes Bafana Bafana well for the quarter final encounter against Mali

Bafana Bafana's number one fan, President Jacob Zuma, has wished the team all the best as they take on Mali in the African Cup of Nations quarter final game to be played tomorrow, 2 February 2013, at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.

President Zuma, will attend the match and will lead the nation in rooting for the national squad. President Zuma said Bafana Bafana had done the country proud by displaying great resilience and tenacity to get through the group stages of the tournament against all odds.

"We want Gordon Igesund, Bongani Khumalo, the team captain and the entire Bafana Bafana team to know that the entire country is fully behind them and supporting them all the way. We are proud of what Bafana Bafana have achieved in reaching the quarter finals. As South Africans we have full confidence in their ability to go further and qualify for the semi-finals. They must play tomorrow's game with pride, passion and respect so that they can walk away from that field holding their heads high not matter the outcome,” said President Zuma.

"I also want to thank all South Africans for the great support that they have shown in our national soccer team. We ask that they continue giving this great support as it motivates our players to do well. I also want to thank the Local Organising Committee and other sport stakeholders for the excellent tournament they have given us thus far and I am confident that come 10th of February the tournament will be seen as having been a great success,” said President Zuma.
