President Jacob Zuma has sent good wishes and a message of speedy recovery to Jacob “Baby Jake” Matlala who is unwell.
With four international titles in his illustrious career as a boxer, Matlala is one of the few South African sports personalities who hoisted this country’s flag very high in the world and made the nation proud. It is his rare combination of success, warm personality and humility which endeared him to the nation, and which in 2004 earned him recognition as one of the greatest South Africans of the century.
President Zuma wishes his family strength during this period so that they can support Mr Matlala to recovery.
