President Jacob Zuma sends condolences to Mbebe family

President Jacob Zuma has extended condolences to the Mbebe family on the sad passing of former 2013 African Cup of Nations and African Nations Championship Local Organising Committee CEO and SABC Executive, Mr Mvuzo Mbebe, who succumbed to cancer on Monday, 19 October 2015.

A fervent activist for transformation in sports, Mr Mbebe was one of the leaders in the South African sports fraternity who had over the years contributed immensely to sports development, from fighting racial segregation to administering and developing sports in a democratic dispensation.

"On behalf of government and the entire South African population, we convey our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and relatives. His death is indeed an enormous loss not only to his family but to the country as a whole. May his soul rest in peace,” said the President.
