President Jacob Zuma has learned with sadness of the passing of Mama Gertrude Tambo in the Eastern Cape this week. Mama Tambo was a sister to the late African National Congress President Oliver Tambo and one of the few remaining matriarchs of her community.
"On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, we would like to express our sincere words of condolence to the Tambo family, the community of Mbizana and her political home the African National Congress. May her soul rest in peace," said President Zuma.
