President Jacob Zuma, in a letter, has notified Parliament’s National Assembly Speaker, Mr Max Sisulu, and Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Mninwa Mahlangu, of his authorisation to employ personnel of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for service in cooperation with the South African Police Service in the Marikana area.
The employment of SANDF personnel is in accordance with the provisions of section 201(2)(a) of the South African Constitution of 1996.
The President’s notification will now be tabled in both Houses.
