President Jacob Zuma has begun his meeting with student leaders and university management at the Union Buildings, held to discuss and find a possible solution to the impasse with regards to university fee increases.
The meeting is attended by:
- Ministers
- Chairpersons of University Councils
- Vice-Chancellors
- Presidents of Students Representative Councils from around the country, and
- Representatives of Student Movements South African Students Congress (SASCO), Democratic Alliance Students Organisation (DASO), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Student Command and South African Democratic Students Movement (SADESMO).
The meeting will discuss the current countrywide impasse between universities and students regarding the proposed annual fee increments as well as other issues of concern to the students which affect their capacity to learn and do well at the institutions.
