President Zuma extends employment of SANDF in Sudan
President Jacob Zuma has informed Parliament that, in terms of section 201(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, he has extended the employment of eight hundred and fifty (850) members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel in Darfur, Sudan.
The SANDF members were employed in Sudan for a period 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014 as part of the African Union/United Nations Hybrid operation in Darfur (UNAMID), in accordance with the various United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
The employment has been extended from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015.
