South African President Jacob Zuma has joined other world leaders in extending condolences to President Yoweri Museveni and the people of Uganda following the disastrous mudslide that struck Uganda on Tuesday, 2 March 2010 and left tens of people dead and scores displaced.
President Jacob Zuma said, “I have learnt with shock and sadness of the natural disaster that struck Uganda, killed and displaced scores of people yesterday. In this regard I wish to extend, my dear brother, sincere condolences to the Government of Uganda and to the families of the deceased. “Our hearts and prayers are with the African brothers and sisters befallen by this disaster, said President Zuma.”
“I wish the Ugandan search and rescue teams every success in their efforts. We hope the international community will make available the necessary resources to help alleviate the impact of the landslide,” concluded President Zuma.
