President Jacob Zuma has declared a special Provincial Official Funeral for Mrs Caroline Motsoaledi, the wife of Rivonia treason trialist Mr Elias Motsoaledi, who was also an activist in her own right.
Mrs Motsoaledi is a veteran of the struggle for liberation who remained steadfast in her convictions and commitment to a free and just South Africa even in the face of persecution when her husband was on Robben Island.
The President has directed that the national flag should be flown at halfmast at all stations in the Gauteng province on the day of her funeral, 3 January 2014.
The Minister in the Presidency, Ms Susan Shabangu, will deliver the eulogy at the funeral. The Gauteng Provincial Government will provide the details of the funeral service.
