President Jacob Zuma has learnt with sadness of the passing of Mr Mfanasekhaya Linda Pearce Gqobose of King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape, a recipient of the National Order of Luthuli.
Mr Gqobose was a former member of the African National Congress Youth League and later a founder member of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) and its military wing, the Azanian People's Liberation Army.
"We are very saddened by the loss of this dedicated cadre for the liberation of the oppressed people of our country," said President Zuma.
"On behalf of Government and the people of South Africa, we wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, the PAC and all his comrades. May his soul rest in peace," the President added.
