President Jacob Zuma has today, 25 January 2013 arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the 20th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State.
The summit is expected to ring in the Golden Jubilee celebration for the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the OAU/AU which will be marked on 25 May 2013. The Assembly will pay tribute to the generations of the Pan Africanist and the founding fathers of the continental organisation.
Some of the issues that are expected to be deliberated on during the week long Summit include, Peace and Security issues in Africa, New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and the African Peer Review.
The President is also expected to announce the convening of the first BRICS Leaders-Africa Dialogue Forum. This dialogue will focus on unlocking BRICS-Africa potential for cooperation on Infrastructure.
President Zuma will also attend the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Head of State and Government meeting on the sideline of the African Union (AU) Summit.
