President Zuma appoints Acting National Police Commissioner
President Jacob Zuma has appointed Lieutenant-General Johannes Khomotso Phahlane as Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
General Phahlane is currently the Divisional Commissioner for Forensic Services at the SAPS.
Earlier today the President suspended General Victoria Phiyega pending the outcome of the Board of Inquiry into allegations of misconduct, her fitness to hold office and her capacity to execute official duties efficiently.
