President Jacob Zuma appoints judges of different courts on 11 December 2014

President Jacob Zuma has in terms of section 174 (6) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 and on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission appointed judges to serve in different courts.

President Zuma appointed the following judges:

(i) The Honourable Madam Justice Mahube Betty Molemela as Judge President of the Free State Division of the High Court, Bloemfontein with effect from 1 January 2015 in an existing vacancy.

(ii) Ms Gayaat Salie-Samuels as a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court, Cape Town with effect from 1 January 2015 in an existing vacancy.

(iii) Ms Katherine Mary Savage as a Judge of the Western Cape Division of High Court, Cape Town with effect from 01 January 2014 in an existing vacancy.

President Zuma has also in terms of section 153 (4) of the Labour Relations Act, 1995, appointed:

(i) Ms Benita Mandy Whitcher as a Judge of the Labour Court for a period of ten years with effect from 1 January 2015.

"We wish the appointed judges all the best in their new responsibilities and we are confident that they will play an essential role in enhancing the country's justice system,” President Zuma said.
