President declares Special Provincial Official Funeral for King Sigcawu

President Jacob Zuma has decided, on request of the Eastern Cape Provincial Government, to declare a Special Provincial Official Funeral for King Justice Mpondombini Sigcawu.

The Special Provincial Official Funeral is reserved for distinguished persons as decided by the President of the Republic, upon receipt of the request from the province of origin.

The President has decided to declare the funeral for King Sigcawu, as he has distinguished himself as he was the king of ama-Mpondo in the Eastern Cape province. He served as King of ama-Mpondo since December 1978.

The President has instructed that the National Flag fly at half-mast in the Eastern Cape Province on the day of the funeral.

The details of the funeral will be communicated by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government.
