The Presidency has decided to grant the late Judge President of the Land Claims Court Fikile Bam a Special Official Funeral Category II with Police Ceremonial Honours.
This category of bongthe funeral is reserved for distinguished persons in society.
The Presidency has also declared a period of National Days of Mourning as from Friday, 23 December 2011 until the evening of the burial or cremation. All national flags will fly at half-mast at all flag stations in the country until the evening of burial or cremation.
Judge President Bam will be laid to rest on 27 December 2011 in Tsolo in the Eastern Cape province.
