Presidency gives update on Presidential Remuneration Review Commission

In the 2013 State of the Nation Address, President Jacob Zuma announced that he would establish a commission to look into the remuneration of the salaries of public servants in particular teachers.

The Presidential Remuneration Review Commission was formally established in August 2013, to review the remuneration policy framework of the public service with an aim to align it with effectiveness, efficiency and service delivery improvement.

The Commission is chaired by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, assisted by additional Commissioners, Ms Elizabeth Maepa and Dr Vincent Maphai.

The Commission has invited education sector key stakeholders including student associations, governing body associations, unions and principals to convene on the 11th of March 2015 in Gauteng with an aim of introducing the Commission and its methodology of executing its mandate to all role players in the sector.

For further information on the work of the Commission, the stakeholders can contact the Secretariat of the Commission, headed by Prof Mandla Mchunu, at the following email address mandlam@govmail.gov.za  or contact the Office of the Secretariat on 012 470 1590.
