North West Premier, Thandi Modise, has expressed her sadness and shock at the tragic accident that claimed fifteen lives this morning. The accident took place this morning between Zeerust and Groot Marico.
“On behalf of the government and people of the North West, I wish to convey my heartfelt sympathies to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased”.
Premier Modise described the accident as one of the worst most horrific in recent memory. The majority of the victims are reportedly teachers from Mafikeng. “This accident has unfortunately opened old wounds about teachers from Diphetogo Primary School in Mafikeng, who perished in an accident about five years ago”.
She reiterated her government’s call to all road users to be considerate on the road to ensure their own safety and the safety of other road users.
