Premier Supra Mahumapelo upbeat about Setsokotsane’s progress in fast-tracking service delivery

Bokone Bophorima Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo is upbeat about Setsokotsane’s progress in fast-tracking the delivery of government services to communities in far-flung areas and bringing government closer to the people.

Premier Mahumapelo was in Mamusa Local Municipality this week to interact with communities and ascertain for himself the progress that the Setsokotsane accelerated service delivery programme was making in the area.

On Thursday July 23 and Friday July 24, Setsokotsane focused on the communities of Migdol and Amalia in Mamusa Local Municipality, bringing more than 15 government departments and public entities operating in Bokone Bophirima to render government services to communities there.

MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Oageng Molapisi, who joined the Setsokotsane team there, after visiting taxi ranks in the area said he was very pleased with the progress that government was making in addressing the service delivery gap through Setsokotsane.

The departments and entities rendering services there included Office of the Premier, Home Affairs, Labour, Social Development, Health, Local Government and Human Settlement, Rural, Economic and Agricultural Development, Sassa, Tourism, Provincial Anti-corruption Forum and Road Accident Fund.

Officials from the various departments and public entities that descended in the two areas as part of Setsokotsane were in high spirit as they rendered services that included vaccination of animals, health care services, processing of social grants applications, drug abuse awareness, certification of documents, attending to issues of domestic violence and outstanding cases and complaints.

The Department of Rural, Economic and Agricultural Development also planted unions, carrots, beetroots, pumpkins and spinach for the community, in addition to donating garden tools.

The Department of Labour’s Nompilo Tali said they were able to assist members of the community with career counselling and employment counselling and register the unemployed on their database on the spot.

Twenty-year old Kenosi Mhlungulwane said she was very happy that she was able to make birth certificates for her 2 months old son and five year-old daughter and register them for child grants at the same time without having to leave her village.

Earlier this week, Premier Mahumapelo and Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv. Michael Masutha spent the whole day in Ipelegeng outside Schweizer Reneke engaging the community about issues and challenges affecting them.

The two politicians assured the community that government was serious about fast-tracking the delivery of government services to communities and addressing the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality.
