The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, expresses his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident on the R71 road in Magoebaskloof this morning.
After visiting the accident scene and some of those who are injured at the hospitals, Premier Mathabatha said: “It is with great sadness that we received the news of this devastating accident, which claimed the lives of several individuals whilst others sustained injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies during this difficult time of grief and sorrow.
The Premier would like to assure the affected families that the Limpopo Provincial Government stands with them in their time of mourning. He said the provincial government will continue to provide all necessary support and assistance to the families to help them cope with this tragic loss as well as those who are recovering.
The Premier also commends the swift response and efforts of the emergency services, law enforcement agencies, and medical personnel who arrived at the scene promptly to help and care to the injured. Their dedication and professionalism in the face of such a tragic incident are commendable.
As investigations into the cause of the accident are underway, the Premier urges all road users to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations. He further said that: “It is crucial that we prioritise the safety of all those who travel on our roads, and we must remain vigilant to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.”
The Limpopo Provincial Government will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide any necessary support to the affected families.
