Limpopo Premier pleads for prayers for the N1 accident victims

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, has asked for prayers and supplications to uplift the families of the twenty-one (21) people who passed away in a bus accident in Vhembe District on 13 February 2023.

Speaking after meeting with the South African Council of Churches (SACC) today, Premier Mathabatha said: “We send condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident. It is befitting that churches and faith-based communities join us in comforting and grieving with the families through prayer. I have particularly asked the SACC to assist in keeping the 51 people who are injured in their prayers, wishing them a speedy recovery.”

"As the provincial government we dispatched the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms Florence Radzilani, who has been liaising with the families since the news of this tragedy broke,” further said Premier Mathabatha. Premier Mathabatha went on to reiterate the call for all road users to be vigilant, considerate and alert at all times.

The meeting agreed that the SACC and the Provincial Government shall organise a Provincial Prayer Day in the Vhembe District to pray for road accidents and other social ills such as gender-based violence (GBV) that afflict humanity today.
