Morena Sekonyela hailed as a humble leader

The Memorial Service of the late Deputy Chairperson of the Free State Provincial House of Traditional Leaders, Morena Dirahadibonwe Ramashweleshwele Solomon Sekonyela, who passed away on 2 January, 2020 at the Mufumahadi Manapo Mopeli Hospital due to illness, was held yesterday, 9 January 2020 at Thibella Community Hall, Qwaqwa. Morena Sekonyela. The Programme Director was Mr. Motsamai Mokoena, Secretary of the Free State Provincial House of Traditional Leaders.

The late Morena Sekonyela was the Senior Traditional Leader of Thibella Traditional Council, which falls under Batlokoa ba Mota Principal Traditional Community, and was also the Acting Chairperson of CONTRALESA in the Free State.

Senior Traditional Leaders, former and current members of the Free State Provincial and Local Houses of Traditional Leaders, traditional leaders, MEC for CoGTA, Mr Thembeni Nxangisa, MEC for Health, Ms. Montseng Tsiu, Executive Mayor of Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, Cllr Masetjhaba Lakaje, General Secretary for CONTRALESA, HRM Zolani Mkiva, Chairperson for CONTRALESA in Gauteng, Prince Malane Tabane, traditional health practitioners, churches and members of the community attended the service. 

On Saturday, 11 January 2020, the late Morena Sekonyela will be laid to rest at the Royal Cemetery at Thibella village in Qwaqwa.

The Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, has hailed Morena Sekonyela as a respected leader whose contribution to the betterment of the House of Traditional Leaders, shall be missed.  "Morena Sekonyela's passing is indeed a loss not only to the House of Traditional Leaders, but the province as a whole. His principles, guidance and humility shall be missed. May his soul rest in peace", said Premier Sisi Ntombela.
