Premier Obakeng Mahumapelo on North West 2015/16 budget vote

Premier Mahumapelo reiterates the rebranding, repositioning and renewal of Mahikeng to the tune of R232 million

Mahikeng – Bokone Bophirima Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo has reiterated in his budget speech delivered in the Provincial Legislature yesterday that his administration will deliver on his promise to revitalise the provincial capital Mahikeng when he officially launches the Mahikeng Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal Plan (MRRRP) in partnership with Mahikeng Local Municipality next week Tuesday, 26 May 2015.

Mahumapelo said he will, together with the Executive Mayor of Mahikeng, sign a memorandum for the joint cooperation and implementation of the MRRRP.

“We are pleased to report to the House that for the 2015/16 Financial Year, an additional R100million will be provided to bolster the initial budget of R132 million, thereby increasing the MRRRP budget to R232 million,” announced Premier Mahumapelo.

Premier Mahumapelo said his administration was firmly committed to rebranding, repositioning and renewing Mahikeng to restore it to its former glory, adding that the commotion caused by a certain disgruntled group in Mahikeng this week will not deter Government from its commitment to Rebrand, Reposition and Renew Mahikeng.

“We are already investigating the feasibility to use taxi’s to transport fresh produce particularly to rural areas, and to transport certain specified medication to clinics and patients homes. Government remains committed to work with the people of Mahikeng across sectors to bring back the glory of this town,” added Mahumapelo.

The launch of Mahikeng Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal Programme was initially scheduled for this week but had to be postponed to next week Tuesday to give the Province time to prepare for the Memorial Service and Funeral of stalwart and Isithwalandwe medalist Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati.
