Premier Mokgoro sends condolences to family of drowned boy

North West Premier, Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro, has expressed his sadness and sent condolences to the family of the late 10 year old Simphiwe Tshabalala; who is alleged to have drowned this past weekend in Khuma near Stilftontein.

It is alleged that he was playing with friends near a bridge in Khuma when they decided to swim in Koekemoer Spruit in the area; and following that, he was swept away by strong water current and disappeared.

His lifeless body was found by police divers yesterday morning following an intensive search and rescue operation.

Premier Mokgoro has also thanked the South African Police Service for managing to find his body.

In addition, the Premier has also expressed concerns regarding the safety of children during the school holidays following the reported drowning of children aged between three and 17 in various parts of the North West Province.

Police have reported that between New Year’s Eve and yesterday, five children have drowned in various incidents in Pudimoe, Bojating village, Amalia and Ganyesa.
