North West Premier appoints administrator at Bakgatla ba Kgafela Traditional Authority
Mahikeng – North West Premier, Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro, has appointed Mr P Tjie as the Administrator of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela Traditional Authority, as recommended by the Baloyi Commission into Traditional Leadership and Disputes into the affairs of the BBK Traditional Authority as well as in line with Sections 9(3) and 10(2) of the North West Traditional Leadership and Governance Act.
The Administrator will effectively take over the responsibility of the Traditional Council as guided by the findings and recommendations of the Commission Report; which was released and made public by Premier Mokgoro earlier this year.
He will officially assume duty on 06 January 2020.
Premier Mokgoro announced that due to the magnitude of the responsibility and the context of the report’s recommendations, the North West Provincial Government will also consider the possibility of appointing support staff to the Administrator to allow him to efficiently and effectively execute his mandate.
The North West Provincial Government remains committed to implement the recommendations of the Commission in their entirety so as to bring stability as well as combat allegations of corruption and maladministration as informed by the Commission report into the affairs of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela Traditional Authority.
Premier Mokgoro would like to urge all the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela to give the Administrator all the necessary support, space and an enabling environment for him to fulfill his mandate without any obstacles.
Premier Mokgoro has also appointed Mr J. Matsho as an Administrator of the Bakwena Ba Mogopa Traditional Authority, effective from 06 January 2020 too.
Mr Matsho will also take over all duties and responsibilities of the Bakwena Ba Mogopa Traditional Council; which includes all administrative and financial affairs of Council and the community in general.
The two Administrators will be introduced to the Traditional Authorities in due course.
