Premier David Makhura wishes matric Class of 2015 luck

Gauteng Premier David Makhura wishes all provincial matriculants the best of luck as they sit for their Grade 12 examination today, 26 October 2015.

“We wish all our matriculants good luck during their final exams. We thank them for their hard work and dedication throughout their schooling,” said Makhura, adding that Gauteng’s future rests on hard-working and innovative young people.

Makhura said he was confident that the Class of 2015 will again make Gauteng proud and retain the number one spot with the most bachelor’s passes and distinctions in the country.

“We would like to appeal to parents and teachers not to put too much pressure but to provide support and encouragement to our leaners during this demanding period,” said Makhura.

He urged learners to take advantage of the various post-Grade 12 learning opportunities that the Gauteng Provincial Government offers.

Gauteng has a total of 954 registered centres, which include at least 640 public schools, 238 independent schools, 61 adult education training centres, 13 repeat centres and two correctional service centres.

This year, the province has registered the highest number of candidates, with 112 050 full-time and 38 628 part-time candidates.
