Weekend safety precautions:
Ahead of the weekend, I want to remind residents that Covid-19 is still with us, and we should all be doing everything possible to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
While we have made significant progress in reducing the numbers of infections, there are still many people in hospital. The new variant is more transmissible, and super spreader events can happen, especially in crowded and enclosed spaces.
If you plan on heading out this weekend ensure that you follow safety protocols to keep yourself and others safe including:
- Wearing your mask properly so that it covers your nose and mouth. If you are visiting the beach, wear your mask when you are not in the water, and ensure you are wearing it in restaurants and other establishments when you are not eating or drinking.
- Washing or sanitising your hands.
- Keeping your distance, avoiding crowds, and enclosed spaces.
- Stay home if you do not feel well.
- Businesses should ensure that their staff and customers are safe by ensuring all the correct protocols are in place.
I also urge residents to drink responsibly and to be safe on our roads.
