Premier congratulates class of 2020 at NSC 2020 Awards Ceremony at Premier’s Residence
Today I had the great privilege of welcoming a small group of matriculants and school officials to the Premier’s residence, Leeuwenhof, for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) 2020 Awards Ceremony.
Hosted by the Western Cape Minister of Education, Debbie Schäfer, this event celebrates outstanding achievements by schools and candidates in the 2020 NSC examinations.
The last year has been an incredibly challenging one for our learners, who have had to contend with the Covid-19 pandemic and the great loss and disruption it has brought with it. This was without a doubt one of the most challenging years to write Matric in recent times.
Despite this great challenge, Matrics across our province committed to finish and excelled beyond our expectation. I am so incredibly proud of each and every learner in our province, and the teachers and parents who have supported them during this time.
If they can excel during a global pandemic, as they have done, I have no doubt that they will excel in the future too, as they now continue their life journey towards a life of happiness and success.
