Premier Ace Magashule: Easter weekend message

Easter well wishes from the Premier of the Free State, Mr Ace Magashule

Once again, Easter Weekend is here, and people from across the length and breadth of our province will be embarking on long journeys to various destinations. I urge all citizens, our visitors and those passing-by the Free State to make an extra effort to keep our roads safe and incident free. I urge you to be safe on the roads, to be considerate and kind to your fellow road users. It is our collective responsibility to reduce the road carnage that renders our children orphaned, that breaks the resilience of families and renders our society vulnerable.

There are cardinal principles that should be observed by all of us together:

  • Don't Drink and drive.
  • Rest every two hours or after every 200 kilometers
  • Don't drive when you are drowsy or sleepy
  • Ensure the road worthiness of your vehicle
  • Do not speed
  • Ensure maximum visibility when on the road, whether you are driving or are a pedestrian
  • Obey all rules of the road

As the Free State Provincial Government we attach supreme value to the safety of all our people and road users. Arrive Alive to all your destinations and return safe to continue the great service of building your country and fulfill the dreams of our forebears of building a South Africa that truly belongs to all who live in it.

The MEC of Police, Roads and Transport, Butana Komphela is ready to take all offenders head on. His ultimate mission is to ensure that the Free State Province contributes significantly to the attainment of the objectives of The Decade of Road Safety and the commitment of our country to reducing road fatalities. We are ready and we call upon all our country men and women to join us in this crusade of sparring lives.

Ke le Premier ya Freistata, ke lakaletsa barapeli le bathobohle batlang ho nka maeto hore ba be le maeto a monate a bolokehileng, a tletseng kgotso ka nako ena yaPaseka.
