The notices for Members of the National Assembly on charges regarding the incident that happened on 21 August 2014 have been finalised and ready to be served. Parliament is making arrangements for these notices to be delivered by the end of this week to the affected Members.
The Powers and Privileges Committee has set aside the period from 30 September 2014 for the commencement of the inquiry. As this incident involves 20 members, the Committee expects this inquiry to take at least five days. The time for the deliberations and mitigations by both parties will be determined by the gravity of the inquiry itself.
The Committee is ready to undertake this work, come 30 September 2014.
