The Portfolio on Women, Children and People with Disabilities welcomes the appointment of the former SA Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka as the new Executive Director of United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women, or UN Women.

“The Committee would like to congratulate Mrs Mlambo-Ngcuka on her appointment to this important agency that advances equality for women. The Committee will continue to work with the United Nations in its efforts for gender mainstreaming towards the full emancipation of women as well as creating societies that treat women equally.
