The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation wishes Athletics South Africa (ASA) well for the upcoming London Olympics, scheduled to take place from 27 July until 12 August 2012. ASA briefed the Committee today on its development plans and team preparation for the Olympics.
The Committee commends ASA for the great work they are doing in developing athletics in communities, particularly rural areas in the country. The Committee notes that there is a big problem around development of sport in South Africa, so the contribution by ASA is greatly appreciated.
The Committee wishes the whole team well and hopes they will return home with some medals.
