Law firm employee sentenced to nine years imprisonment
Marlize Kellerman (38) was sentenced by the Specialized Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville on Thursday, 6 February 2020. The accused was found guilty on 385 counts of Fraud, all counts taken together for sentencing purposes. Accused was sentenced to nine (9) years direct imprisonment.
The sentence emanates from an investigation that began in 2018 by the Western Cape Serious Commercial Crime Investigations. Kellerman is alleged to have misappropriated trust funds belonging to a client of her employer, an attorneys practice in Worcester. She amassed over R4.6 million in her illegal dealings from the Law firm where she was employed.
