Police arrests Warrant Officer for alleged corruption in Polokwane

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation has arrested a 52 year old Warrant Officer for alleged corruption in Polokwane on Tuesday.

It is alleged the suspect who is stationed at Westernberg police station has been extorting money from the victim who was arrested for dealing in drugs in order to make his docket disappear.

The victim reportedly gave the suspect R6000 in the past but the police detective kept on demanding more until the matter was reported to the Hawks.

The suspect was arrested in the city immediately after receiving a R6000 gratification from the victim.

The suspect was also found in possession of more than R27 000 in cash. 

He will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court soon to face corruption and extortion charges.
