The accident that occurred between the Brits toll gate and the Brits off ramp on the N4 Bakwena highway is one of the six that were reported after the Japan and Denmark match. Slight injuries were reported at four of the accidents.
Other slight injuries were reported after a white Volks Wagen Sedan was hit by a train at 23h34 in another football world cup related accident that occurred at the R150 railway crossing.
An accident, with no injuries, on the N4 near the Helen Joseph off ramp at 23h34 caused minimum traffic congestion to traffic coming from the stadium after the match.
An argument ensued on the scene between the owner of one of the vehicles and two tow truck operators. Senior traffic officers intervened and the scene was cleared, along with the congestion.
North West MEC for Public safety, Howard Yawa wishes to convey his condolence to the family of the pedestrian who was killed in the accident and appeals to motorists to exercise extreme caution and patience in the after match traffic and to be on the lookout for pedestrians.
