Parliament's Ethics committee to seek legal opinion on opening closed session

The Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests met on 8 June 2011 to consider allegations of non-disclosure of registrable interests against Ms Yolanda Botha, MP.

The committee received a letter from Webber Wentzel acting for the Mail & Guardian Centre for Investigative Journalism to the effect that they wish to attend the hearings on this matter.

The committee resolved to seek an opinion from Senior Council since the Rules of Parliament require that such hearings be held in closed session.
