The Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation is saddened by the death of female professional boxer, Ms Phindile Mwelase (31).
Ms Mwelase passed away on Saturday after being in a coma for two weeks, following a fight on 10 October 2014. “Ms Phindile Mwelase’s death is a loss not only to the boxing fraternity, but to the sport as a whole. The country has lost three athletes this past weekend and we are very saddened by this loss,” says Beauty Dlulane, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation.
The Committee wishes the Mwelase family comfort and strength during this difficult time.
